Our client, a prominent player in the logistics and transportation industry, is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk for a one year contract to support their finance team.

This role involves ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor payments, with a specific focus on carrier payables and driver compensation.

The primary responsibility of the Accounts Payable Clerk is to manage the processing of payments for carriers and drivers, ensuring all transactions are completed efficiently and with precision.

Key Responsibilities :

• Manage the processing of driver-related payments, ensuring all required paperwork is properly handled.
• Respond to inquiries from drivers regarding their pay, either via email or phone, with timely and accurate information.
• Perform data entry of invoices as needed.
• Audit, verify, and process invoices for payment in compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Liaise with the Freight Audit team to review and approve any discrepancies.
• Reconcile aging statements and maintain records for payments to carriers.
• Handle internal and external inquiries, including providing payment details or documentation as necessary.
• Support the finance department with other ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Skills and Competencies :

• Basic understanding of accounting principles.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong numerical and data processing skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Fast and efficient with keyboard / data entry tasks.
• Experience with Truckmate or similar software is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills for dealing with both internal teams and external vendors.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well independently or within a team.
• Knowledge of the transportation industry is highly advantageous.

Qualifications :

• Minimum of 3 years of accounts payable experience in the logistics or trucking sector.
• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
