About

The Opportunity :

The Community and Program Facilitator is responsiblefor facilitating and delivering community and program developmentopportunities, in conjunction with citizens and community organizations.

This position fosters participation andexposure to recreation, parks or culture opportunities that are accessible toresidents and that enhance the quality of life in the city of Red Deer.

This position also leads in the effectivedelivery of and accountability for recreation, parks and culture programs andservices offered in conjunction with the community and The City of Red Deer andprovides facilitation and professional program and administrative guidance toindividuals, groups and organizations who are working collaboratively todevelop and promote recreation, parks and culture in Red Deer.

The portfolio assigned that will be the area of focus is supporting the Arts and Culture organizations and groups in our community through the administration of the Community Culture Development Grant and through capacity building facilitation.

As our preferred candidate, youwill have :

  • University undergraduate degree with majorconcentration in recreation or physical education, arts, culture or communitydevelopment plus two years relevant professional recreation, parks or cultureexperience.
  • Diploma in recreation, physical education, arts,culture or community development from a post-secondary institute plus fouryears relevant recreation, parks or culture experience.
  • Sound knowledge of the philosophies, principles andpractices of public leisure services.
  • Strong organizational skills and functions effectivelyin a fast-paced challenging environment.
  • Strong background in recreation, parks and culturedevelopment, community engagement, facilitation and development.
  • Demonstrates effective, proactive and creativeapproaches in the design, development and execution of strategies andimplementation plans.
  • Demonstrates highly developed partnership and alliancebuilding skills.
  • Works independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal, written andpresentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage performance, coach andguide staff and / or volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in continuous learningand on-the-job training.

Remuneration :

$46.97 to 49.44 per hour.

Hours of Work :

75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening andweekend work will be required.
