In 1946, S. Truett Cathy, founder and Chairman of Chick-fil-A, Inc., started a single restaurant called The Dwarf House in the Atlanta suburb of Hapeville, Georgia.
The Chick-fil-A trademark was patented in 1964, and the first Chick-fil-A restaurant was opened inside the Greenbriar Shopping Center in Atlanta, Georgia in 1967 (this was the beginning of the modern day food court which is found in almost every mall today).
Two more locations opened in 1969, and the growth has continued since that time. As a result of Truett’s innovation and personal commitment to both guests and Team Members, Chick-fil-A has grown into one of the largest family-owned and privately held restaurant chains in the United States and is continuing that growth into Canada.
Chick-fil-A restaurants serve millions of guests every year, in more than 2,600 locations in the United States and Canada.
