Background :
Under the responsibility of the Team Lead and in accordance with the Centre’s philosophy and principles for service the H.
O.M.E Heart Helper will assume responsibility for providing comprehensive support and holistic services aimed at empowering youth and facilitating their healing journey.
The H.O.M.E Heart Helper is passionate, committed, and engaged in improving the lives of young Indigenous women and families.
Qualifications :
- Child & Youth Care Diploma or acceptable equivalent and related experience.
- Residential Care experience would be an asset.
- Caseload and healing plan development and implementing with the young woman.
- Provides support / supervision to the residents.
- Program development and facilitation skills.
- Liaises, supervises and consults with collateral agencies with regards to specific service recipient or service concerns in general.
- Incumbent must be aware of the impact and effects of sexual exploitation / abuse on the lives of the young women and be able to establish relationships with resident’s build on trust and genuine caring.
- Needs to have the ability to work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team member.
- Ability to work under stressful situations.
- Knowledge of the Child Welfare Legislation and standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of aboriginal values and community issues.
- First Aid / CPR Certification.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
