Role Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Log Haul Specialist to join our team; the ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial transportation permitting and logistics, particularly in the log haul industry, with a focus on collaboration and team work.

Reporting to the Manager of Permitting and Exemptions, the main purpose of this role is to deliver the TEC log Haul permit program to both mills and the transportation industry.

The Log Haul Specialist is TEC's front line contact for stakeholders of the Log Haul Permit Program; liaising with mills, commercial carriers, other government departments and industry associations.

The Specialist is responsible for the coordination and management of log haul agreements, route maps and commercial carrier permits;

all of which support the safe and efficient transportation of over 200,000 loads of logs each year.

The roles and responsibilities of this position include :

• Deliver Log Haul, Long Combination Vehicle (LCV), and Dangerous Goods Permit Programs.
• Manage Dimension and Weight agreements between TEC and mills for the movement of raw forest products.
• Coordinate the development and verification of log haul route maps.
• Evaluate mill, contractor, and carrier safety and training procedures as well as permit program compliance.
• Respond to public and stakeholder inquiries regarding log haul and LCV programs through phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings.
• Use detailed knowledge of the provincial highway system and trucking industry to determine safe routes for industry and the travelling public.
• Participate in working groups and committees as necessary, acting as a subject matter expert on log haul and LCV programs.
