Detailed Job Description

Simpson Ranching is seeking areliable Ranch Hand to join our team in the Alberta Foothills on our 1,000 HeadCattle Ranch and Mixed Grain Farm operation.

Successful candidate must have strong experience in all aspects ofequipment operation including farming and ranching, facility maintenance,cattle handling and care.

Minimum 5years’ experience and clean Class 5 license required. Competitive wage, housing, and other benefitsavailable. This position reports to theRanch Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Carry out fieldwork including haying, harvesting, cultivating, harrowing, spraying thistle androck picking, operating lawn mowers, weed whackers, pressure washers, postpounder, hammer and any other implement provided.
• Operateand maintain all equipment including haying, feeding grain, rolling grain,feeding hay, bedding straw, cutting weeds, spraying weeds, greasing, oil / fluidchecks with every use, minor repairs as necessary, servicing and recordkeeping.
• Competencyin pasture doctoring cattle is an asset.
• Carry outtasks associated with cattle work including detecting and treating illness,feeding, calving, and handling of livestock.

Carry out other dutiessalt / mineral / oiler / creep feeder upkeep and transport, cleaning barns, postmortems,moving cattle, set up and tear down of livestock handling systems, repairs orreplacement of barb wire / page wire / corral fences, install, maintain, andrelocate electric fencing, yard work, repairs and maintenance of to watersystems, and shoveling snow.

• Keep allareas of the Ranch clean and in good repair.
• Conductall duties in a safe manner, as per the SRL Environmental, Health and SafetyManual

QUALIFICATIONS :

To be Successful you will have thefollowing qualifications and experience :

• 5+ yearsof experience with the day-to-day operations of a large ranching operation
• Diploma,degree, or equivalent education in the field(s) of Agriculture, Animal Sciencesor a related field are considered an asset.
• Cattlehealth knowledge and strong cattle handling skills are an asset.
• Mechanicalability for servicing ranch and / or farm equipment
• Able tooperate farming and / or ranch related equipment.
• Able tobuild & / or fix wood, barbed & page wire fences / corrals.
• Class 1 driver’slicense is considered an asset.
• Must bewilling to put in long hours when required.
