Responsibilities

• Operate machinery in shop to move, cut and bend reinforcing steel bars
• Shearing machine to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths
• Bender machines, both manual and computerized
• Overhead crane to move and select material to be fabricated or shipped
• Load and unload materials from trucks
• Tying rebar bundles together with wire for shipping
• Ensuring shop cleanliness and maintaining work areas
• Assist other employees with machinery and tasks as assigned
• General labour duties as required

Requirements

• Must have own transportation, no public transportation available
• Entry level position full training provided on machinery used in shop
• Ability to read / communicate in English at an intermediate level
• Attention to detail and strong math skills required
• Knowledge of basic measurements and how to read a tape measure
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Some heavy lifting up to 50lbs may be required
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Majority of work is inside, some outside work
• Working conditions may be noisy / dusty, hot / cold
• Construction, manufacturing plant or rebar tying experience will be considered assets
• Overtime may be required
• Shift work may be required

Hourly wage for this position starts between $21.48- $26.25 based on experience
