Education Assistant - Elementary, 27.95-28.75 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The current rate of pay is $31.58 per hour plus 16.3% in lieu of benefits.
Locations will be assigned by the Inclusive Education department and are subject to change.
Positions to end June 26, 2025 or upon return of the incumbent.
OVERVIEW :
Elementary and Secondary Education Assistants (EAs) support individual students or groups of students in grades K-12. EAs support students and assist behaviour resource, learning support and classroom teachers with instructional and non-instructional tasks.
They assist in areas of personal care, teaching and behaviour management. EAs may be assigned by their supervisor to work in a variety of classrooms and / or school programs such as : LifeSkills, Prep Program, ENTER, swim programs, field trips, etc.
Qualifications :
Grade 12 education supplemented by Human Services Worker Program certificate and course work in :
ability to model language on communication systems at a child's level, valid Class 5 B.C. driver's license and license appropriate to the type of equipment / vehicle being operated and a personal vehicle
ability to work independently and as a member of a team; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Duties / Responsibilities :
performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor; student supervision as required by the Principal or Vice Principal.
