Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Aviation Security, this position supports safety and security at Porter Airlines by overseeing the daily operation of the Aviation Security Management System (SeMS).

Duties & Responsibilities Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to : Guide the investigation and audit of identified security risks and threats;

evaluate investigation / audit results in the context of organizational security risk management strategies Assure adherence with the conditions and restrictions of the Porter Air Operator Aviation Security Program and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards Monitor and assess security threat information for possible hazards, risks and vulnerabilities Disseminate security bulletins, directives and status reports as required Administer the evaluation of the security critical processes of external service providers that are relevant to Porter aircraft Maintain operational security records Assist company response to an aviation security emergency or incident Maintain company security manuals and related documentation in accordance with Transport Canada and IATA operational safety audit program requirements Maintain the confidentiality of organizational safety reporting systems Any other duties as assigned Behavioural Competencies Concern for Safety : Identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others.

  • Qualifications Excellent working knowledge of Transport Canada requirements for aviation operational security and IATA / ICAO standards for aviation security risk management Familiarity with commercial flight operations Previous experience of working in the security management system of a commercial air operator Experience in the conduct of security investigations and design of corrective action plans Previous experience as an aviation internal security auditor;
  • knowledge and demonstrated experience of auditing principles, procedures and methods Excellent time management, written and verbal communication skills;
  • keen attention to detail University degree, certification as an Aviation Security Professional Manager and / or acceptable combination of education, training and / or related work experience Must be able to secure an all Canada Restricted Area Identity Card Must maintain a valid passport;

must be able to travel domestically and internationally when required on short notice
